brz Goes Record Shopping with WIUX

I filmed and edited a WIUX feature with Yeeseon Chae. Inspired by Amoeba Music's "What's in My Bag?," artist and innovator, brz, shares music that has been influential to his creative process.

I created this piece for my radio show, Free Range on WIUX. This was freshman year of college, a year in which music played an important role in my life. During this time of self-reflection, I wanted to explore how music influenced college students' childhoods and the process of growing up. Through conversations with dorm friends, I began to see that music can often mean "home."

This piece was for my senior year project in high school. I wanted to give listeners insight into my first year at WFIU/WTIU. Through this short minute and 53 seconds I intended to encompass the bright work environment that ensues when a group of people genuinely love what they do.

Last June, our Member Services Coordinator, Stephanie, moved to Seattle to pursue the mountains and a brand new career at member station KUOW. Stephanie was my first supervisor when I started interning, and served as a mentor to me. During her time at WTIU/WFIU, she taught me what it means to really love life. Even in the toughest of situations, she moves forward with a genuine smile and a positive attitude.

As a thank you from our entire station, I planned, filmed, animated, and edited a goodbye video. As I worked on this project, it became clear to me that it would be impossible to track down all of the people that she had impacted during her time at the station, but I did my best...

This is a visual essay exploring music and social movements. After a pretty beautiful semester of independent study and reading Tricia Rose, John Malkin, Njabulo Ndebele, and more, I displayed my major takeaways through this visual essay.
